Choose the right plan for you
There are many plans to meet your needs and budget. Starting from just £1,195 for a Direct Cremation plan. Unlike some providers, 1066 Funeral Plans have many plans which guarantee to cover the funeral services outlined in your plan when the time comes, no matter how much costs increase or how far in the future this may be. Prices for typical benefits can be as low as those below, however it is important to match the plan to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you take out a Prepaid Funeral Plan, you can freeze funeral costs at today’s prices, so no matter how much they rise, the cost of the cremation funeral services included in the Plan will be guaranteed – meaning that loved ones are less likely to have to use any savings or inheritance you may have left them. What’s more, the funeral will be planned and paid for, so your loved ones won’t have the added stress of making all of the arrangements at a difficult and emotional time.
A Funeral Plan sits outside the estate for inheritance tax planning purposes and during your lifetime for some other purposes too.
Savings and life insurance don’t guarantee to cover your funeral costs, whereas a Prepaid Funeral Plan does. And with funeral expenses rising year on year, you may find that savings and life insurance aren’t enough to cover the cost of the funeral. In addition, banks and over 50s life insurance providers will not arrange your funeral, but virtually all plan providers will.

Yes. Anyone can purchase a funeral plan for another person.
Prepaid funeral plans allow you to choose and agree the arrangements for a funeral in advance. This can be your own funeral, or on behalf of someone else. Prepaid plans allow you to fix the cost of most elements of the funeral and protect you from future inflation of funeral related costs. Payment can be made either via a lump sum or instalments.
Clearly a lump sum involves a commitment of money up front, whereas instalments allow you to spread the cost. Most providers will add an instalment charge if instalments are spread over more than 12 months, so you should consider the financial impact of this.
You should also be aware that an instalment arrangement will often require payment of outstanding instalments by your family if death occurs before all instalments have been paid.
There are insurance backed plans where no further payment would be required if death occurs before all instalments have been paid, though these usually have a period of up to 2 years where the value of the plan on death would be limited to a return of the contributions paid.
A “nominated funeral director” is normally allocated, either at your specific request or by the funeral planning company. This will be the funeral director who will carry out the funeral, unless something else changes, such as you are moving home.
With most plans the following are not included in many cases:
The cost of special requests such as memorials, flowers, catering, newspaper obituaries etc.
Transport of more than a certain specified distance (perhaps 25 or 50 miles) from the Nominated Funeral Director. Any charge for any additional miles will be payable to the Nominated Funeral Director at the time.
The cost of removal of mechanisms such as pacemakers (which must be removed before a cremation).
Costs for conducting the funeral, burial or cremation on a weekend, at an unusual hour or public holiday.
Any additional charges due to changes in regulations, tax, laws or generally accepted practice.
The cost of repatriation outside mainland Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Jersey, Isle of Wight on the Isle of Man (The Limited Plan not available on the Isle of Man).
Any Doctor’s fees and Coroner’s fees, but some will allow these out of any surplus Funeral Director’s funds.
**Where included in Your Plan these are referred to as disbursements. The sum included within your Plan paid towards these costs will increase with CPI.
***Minimum standard coffin requested with the Funeral Director, please be aware that materials may vary by funeral service provider.
